Well, she has a degree -- in something and umm...

Look, we all know Shaunie. The Ghetto Fantastic fly girl that won't wear anything less than D&G out to the corner store. The 5'6 around the way chick with "good hair" and a pretty smile that always gets what she thinks she deserves. The broad with an opinion about any and everything and has no problem letting you know it. Like we said, she has a degree -- in something; she's no chickenhead, she just demonstrates cluckable characteristics on occasion.

She's good, she's hood & she's our resident Hot Girl.

Two for One R&B Album Roundup
Hurry Up, Usher's Coming!

Lloyd – Street Love

(3 1/2) Fiyaballs

Fiya 3 on the CD: The R&B Trifecta (*Read the damn review)
Don’t play dumb, you understand that title. My Boo is coming for his title. You know it. I know it. And all these other R&B dudes damn sure know it. Whoever is handling Ne-Yo and Chris Brown did it right and got their records poppin’ (awwwww yeah) a good year and a half before Ursher even thought about hitting the retail trail. They didn’t want to get caught up (ok, if you’re mad now, you will hate me by the end of the third graph. That’s my…confession for the day) competing for that crown. And speaking of Omarion, he just got his in under the deadline, because had he waited any longer, his project would have ended up colder than his hot first single (ah-ha-ha-ha, that innuendo. Nope, y’all got it.)

So, here we have Lloyd, and his sophomore album, Street Love. My first observation is lil Gonzo waited too long, because that Kinga-R&B Jr. is looming like the tax deadline and there’s no guarantee that he’ll get a return on his Hottest Thing. If he is to succeed, however, he has one thing on his side, which is thus far completing two legs of the male R&B Trifecta. That is having three hit singles on your album that cover mid-tempo, dance song and ballad. With You and Get It Shawty, he just may be on his way. And while the ballad part remains to be seen, I suspect One For Me has Superstar hit written all over it. The rest of the album is a nice balance of mid-tempo odes to brown nosing, but they flow pretty well.

Oh, did I mention Get It Shawty was produced by Ush’s brother? Maybe, Raymond is holding off, a bit. We’ll see, but he ain’t sitting back forever, R&B cats, so you best hurry up unless you wanna burn in brick hell.

Musiq – Luvanmusiq

Fiyaballs

Fiya 3 on the CD: B.U.D.D.Y., Ridiculous, Ms. Philadelphia
And now, on a more serious note, after listening to Musiq’s newest offering, Luvanmusiq, I’m sure of two things: 1) I’m really tired of the way this guy spellseverythangsodamnstoopid, and 2) He should have taken the name from one of the songs he actually spelled correctly and named this album Lullaby, for the way it’s sure to put listeners to sleep. This is going on three albums now, where Musiq Soulgrownup hits you off with this cool up-tempo first single, making you think he’s going to have a nice balance of songs, so you pop the CD in and bam, you’re asleep in the recliner and your Italian ice is a cup of syrup when you wake up.

I’m serious. A good eight of the songs on Luvan are sung in the same tone, with the same rhythm and are loosely based upon the same woman. Sadly, only a few of the simp tracks are good. Ms. Philadelphia is probably about some Philly brawd Musiq really knows and tried to smut because you can really hear lust in his voice. Nasty boy. Ridiculous is just that with hypnotizing production and flawless harmony.

One more thing, what the HELL is with the rap adlibs, minus the raps on every other song?! The first time I heard B.U.D.D.Y. I just knew Fabolous was about to hop in and drop 16, but he never did. Then I hear similar shit on a fourth of Luvan and now all those “Ugh’s” become more and more annoying by the listen. It’s impossible to ignore too, because that “Ugh” on an R&B song is the equivalent to my ten 10-year-old niece fixin to jump in that double dutch rope line; it’s a forgone conclusion.

Well, here’s my forgone conclusion about this album, Usher wouldn’t have wasted my time like this.
